Kasie Richards Giallombardo joined the Kennebec Valley Young Marines (ME) in 1995 until she graduated high school in 2003 when she was honorably discharged at the rank of YM/MGySGT. From there, Giallombardo became an intern for Headquarters Young Marines during her sophomore, junior, and senior year in college, as well as serving as an Executive Officer for the Kennebec Valley Young Marines.
Today, Giallombardo is a Social Studies teacher at Nokomis Regional High School in Newport, Maine where she has been teaching for the past 10 years. Kasie was recognized as the 2017 Penobscot County Teacher of the Year, Lawrence O’Toole Recipient for Teacher Leadership, and a 2018 Maine Teacher of the Year Finalist.
Giallombardo stated that the experience that she gained from leading and planning in the Young Marines has made her job teaching a wide-range of learners more successful.
She also noted that her knowledge of the military that she learned as a Young Marine has helped her guide and assist her students with choosing their college and military options after high school.
