Alumni who do not wish to be a registered Adult Volunteer with the Young Marines program.
Members who are not registered Adult Volunteers with HQYM are not covered by liability insurance provided by HQYM. All adults working directly with Young Marines must be registered and placed on the “active” roster in the database prior to working with Young Marines or Young Marine recruits. All Adult Volunteers are required to submit a completed Adult Volunteer Application package and complete a background check, which is valid for two years from the date of approval
Qualifications for Membership
Current adult members, or applicants for adult membership, must meet the following qualifications:

They must have been a former Young Marine.

They must maintain high moral standards and promote a healthy lifestyle as outlined in Article II of the National By-Laws.

They agree to abide by the By-Laws, rules and regulations that govern the Young Marines and Alumni Association.

They pay all fees as prescribed by YMAA.
​

They must never have been convicted of a felony.
Rights & Relationship of Membership

Members may correspond with or request an audience with the Headquarters Young Marines Alumni Coordinator via the chain of command.

Members have the right to see all financial records.
​

Members have the right to expect that their profiles will remain confidential. ADULT VOLUNTEER MANUAL (AVM) 1-3 e). No member will be discriminated against based on race, religion, creed, color, national origin, gender, or disabilities.

All members have the right to contact HQYM for clarification of rules, regulations, policies, or intent of same. HQYM: 800-717-0060.

Members have the right to vote and apply for all elected committee positions and submit for appointed positions.

Inactivated Members – members’ that are inactivated in the database by order of the Alumni Coordinator have only the right to vote in any election held before re-registration. Once re-registration is completed and submitted, the inactive member is dropped from the Associations’ rolls.

Nature of Relationship- The relationship created by the membership acceptance of a member is an at-will relationship between the Young Marines Alumni Association (organization) and the AV. The relationship is not one of Employer-Employee and none of the rights and benefits created by such relationship are created herein. The relationship may be terminated with or without cause at any time by either party. In such event, the relationship ends without any further recourse on the part of the member in the event of termination by the organization except as may be specifically provided herein.
Dues & Fees

Start-Up Fee: $55 - This includes a YMAA T-shirt, lapel pin, Esprit Magazine subscription, and voting status. Approximately $35 goes into Alumni funds to benefit the Young Marines program through scholarships, research, and engagement.

Annual Dues: $40 – This includes continued membership but not continued gear. The rest goes into Alumni funds to benefit the Young Marines program through scholarships, research, and engagement.
